Consistency!

I've been going to the gym consistently about 4 times a week for the past month and a half or so. I'm very happy with the results. I feel like my stamina is getting much better, my flexibility is great and I feel like I'm toning up. Very happy! I've been taking yoga about 3 times a week and then I do some cardio on the eliptical and the treadmill. I also have been taking an awesome aerobics class that integrates Latin dancing into it. Super fun and a great cardio workout! I'm hanging strong at about 125 lbs. still, which I'm happy with because I've been eating quite a bit of apple pie lately! YUM! However, that will be stopping after the first of the year, so the workouts will continue to keep me on track as I modify my eating. Let's hear it for exercise!!!! Woo hoo!!! I feel like it's my time for myself when I can hop on the machines and read my book and just get absorbed into the workout and the book. There is a kids' club there at the gym, so I can drop off Marli and workout for a maximum of 2.5 hours at a time. It's great! Coco added me onto her gym membership, along with Annya and Geno. It's fun going with them. :)

Early Early Early....

I just typed out an entire entry and it got erased. Not fun. Here we go again:

For the past 2 weeks, I've been going to the gym about 2-3 times a week with my mom at 4:30 in the morning. I've really enjoyed it since I get to go back to bed after about an hour workout. I've been holding steady at 125 lbs. I'd like to be at 120, but I'm not complaining! Some people have noticed that I've lost some weight...always makes you feel good! I do need to work on my diet. It's those darn sweets! I have been tracking what I'm eating and I know how many calories I've been taking in per day. I'm trying to keep it to around 1500 calories a day. Then, I have my exercise and daily activity that helps to keep me slimmed down. It's working! I guess if sweets is my only vice in this life, there are worse things, huh? ;)

Early Bird

I made the decision and followed through with going to the gym with my mom on Wednesday morning at......wait for it.....4:15 AM. I know, I'm psycho. But, that's when my mom goes and when she can get me in for free. So, in order to save money and still keep my weight in check, I sucked it up and went. It felt really good, too. Very early, but good. I'll hopefully be going back tomorrow morning too. I have a show tonight, so we'll see how up to it I'm feeling after that. :)

Not too shabby!

I finished my TBLC competition in 9th place out of 29 ladies. :) I ended up losing 5.5 lbs. That was pretty much just from watching and tracking what I eat. I haven't really been walking or exercising much lately at all. Slacker! I would love to pick it up a bit more soon. Perhaps since Ibis is out of work, I'll be able to go running in the mornings. I just need to get out of bed!

Kickin' it into gear!

We went to the beach yesterday and I got a bit of a workout running on the sand. I went walking today and burned about 250 calories. I've been tracking my nutrition and it says I don't eat enough. Wow. I don't eat enough fat on a daily basis evidently. So, I'm trying to kick it up with almonds and guacamole and the other good fats out there. It's a bit of an eye-opener when you actually start tracking what you eat. Gives you a chance to see where you need to fill in the holes. Also, I've lost about 3 pounds since I've started this whole thing. But, I haven't been working out. That's pretty much been just with diet. So, now I need to get a bit more disciplined with the exercise and we'll see what happens!

Pretty Good

I did a fairly good job of working out this week! I went walking with Coco and Marli 3 days this week and we did the long figure 8 around Granite, so that's almost 3 miles of walking. Not too shabby. I'm hoping to do better this coming week. I'll be posting my weight, since I'm in a Biggest Loser-type contest with my friends on my mom's board. The pot for the winner is $261, so I'd love to win it! My goal is to get back down to 120 lbs. I'm currently at 130 on the dot. I weigh in next Friday and we'll see how I'm doing. I've come to realize that if I just cut out the sugar and exercise more, I have no problems losing lbs. So, that's what I'm gonna do!

Seminar work out

Last week, I was in Dallas for MK Seminar and it was amazing. I'm so excited to move up quickly once more into my free car again and then into directorship to lead women to excellence! I was able to work out in the hotel 2 of the nights I was there, so that was good and unexpected. I ran on the treadmill and did the eliptical for about 45 minutes each. Good times!

Onto this week.......

I haven't had a chance to breathe!! I did go walking on Tuesday with Coco and Marli. That felt good. It's been so stinkin' hot here!!! I haven't wanted to even fix my hair by blow drying it, let alone go out in the heat and sweat forever....but, that is a great way to lose weight!!! My sister has been in town this week, too so it's been a little hectic with our schedules filled up.

Still Truckin' Along

Monday (30 minutes yoga)
Decided to just do my yoga today. It was good. Man, I need to work on my flexibility some more!!!!

Tuesday (22 minutes running)
Ran down Anza and up Chase again. Felt good and it was good weather. Hope to keep up the running this week. It's been nice having Ibis home so I can just roll out of bed and go running without taking Marli anywhere. He (thankfully!) will be back at work either at the end of this week or definitely Monday. Yay!

Wednesday (25 minutes running)
I took a run in the late afternoon...of course I did....I wanted it to be super hot! Well, it was and I felt a little drained. I think I do better running in the mornings! Still, I muddled through it and as a reward for running in that heat, I jumped in the pool when I got home. Ah, refreshing!

Good Running Week

Monday (25 minutes running)
I was able to get out in the morning and run down Anza and then East on Chase. It's a nice route and I will be expanding it as I get my stamina back up where it should be.

Tuesday (25 minutes running)
Since Ibis has been home and out of work for a week, I was again able to get out and do the same route today as yesterday. I did feel a couple of raindrops on my head, but I love it when it rains and I can be out in it. When I was little, every time it used to rain, I would put on grungy clothes and go outside to play in the rain. It's amazing that I never really got sick because of it! Anyway, the run felt good and I hope to run a little longer later in the week.

Friday (20 minutes running)
I ran the same route up Anza and down Chase and back. On the way back, I spotted a property for sale that just went on the market. So, I stopped and called and then returned with Ibis and Marli to check it out with a realtor. It looked pretty good, but a little out of our price range. Cest la vie.

ugh!

Monday (20 minutes running)
I actually got out and ran this evening when Ibis got home from work. It felt really good. I ran a bit uphill and my calves are hurtin'! Looking to run a bit more this week still....

Friday (25 minutes running)
I've been sick for the past week and a half. I had to record the Star Spangled Banner on Wednesday night with laryngitis. That was fun. But, it went okay and I think I turned in an okay audition cd. Anyway, since Ibis is unemployed AGAIN he was able to be with Marli while I went running this morning. I did a nice run; not too long or fast since I'm battling a cold. But, it did feel good to get out there and exercise. I'll be running tomorrow, too.

Skipped a week!

Due to unforseen events in the Bueno household, I was unable to run or walk at all last week. But, this week:

Monday (30 minutes walking)
I walked with Marli around Kennedy Park at a really fast pace. It felt good and I hope to keep this up with running, too, throughout the week. I'm also making a commitment to eat a little better and make sure that I'm not eating too many sweets.

Tuesday (3 dance classes)
I didn't work out, but I did teach 3 ballroom dance classes and I was dancing right along with the kids, so it sure felt like a workout!

Wednesday (30 minutes walking)
Did the same walk as Monday. Felt really good. I'm really walking fast on these walks. The stroller propels me and I walk faster with it than without it. Also, I'm down 2 lbs! Yay! I'm just adjusting my diet and making sure that I'm eating things in the proper proportion. It's working I guess.

Saturday (30 minutes walking/running)
Well, this week was just about walking. I wasn't able to have Coco watch Marli while I ran and since I don't have a jogging stroller, I had to settle for walking. But, I'm walking VERY quickly and I can feel the burn at the end of the walk. :o) I will strive to run next week, though. I'll try to run after Ibis gets home....it's light out for quite a while, so it should work.

Another Week Another Run

Tuesday (20 minutes running)
I ran around Kennedy Park today and took an additional couple of blocks past the Bueno's before I headed back. It wasn't too hot when I ran and it felt really good, like I could have kept going for a lot longer. Unfortunately, I didn't want to push myself, so I left it at 20 minutes (approximately 2 miles) and I'll do more tomorrow. Feeling good and energized!

Wednesday (30 minutes running/20 minutes walking)
Did a bit of a longer run today and then walked the rest of the way with Coco and Marli. It was very nice to be out with the weather cool in the mornings.

Thursday (30 minutes running/20 minutes walking)
I did the same route as yesterday. This time, we had a friend and her dog join us. That was nice to be able to get to know someone better. Very nice run and it was still cloudy and cool, so it was PERFECT running weather. Didn't sweat too much. :o)

Saturday (30 minutes running)
I actually got up and went running this morning. I ran around the block past Kennedy Park and then went down Verdin and looped around down Trenton and then back to the Bueno's. It was a great run! Not too long or far, but I was really feeling good and I know that the three runs during the week helped. Hoping to do even better next week!

I kind of took this whole week to just relax as far as exercise goes. I did run today, though. So, it's not a complete loss. I'll also be running on Saturday down at Mission Bay....probably about 5 miles. I don't feel too bad for missing a lot throughout the week.

Another Week

Tuesday (30 minutes running)
Ran around Granite without Marli and Coco in tow because Coco is watching Tristan and Mia, so I dropped Marli off so I could do a quick run. I ran for about 30 minutes, which is about 3 miles. I pretty much run at a 10 min./mile pace when I'm out on my runs. The weather was great for running; overcast, cool breeze going, but not too cold. Perfect! There's a guy from opera who likes to get a group together to run on Saturday mornings down by the bay. I'm going to join them this Saturday. Can't wait! They do a five mile run, so I need to make sure I run a couple times this week so I can keep up. :o)

Thursday (45 minutes walking)
Just did a quick and easy walk around Granite with Marli and Coco.

Saturday (4.5 miles running/.5 miles walking)
So, I went to Mission Bay Park to run with some opera friends and it was beautiful down there! We ran at a 10 mile pace. Garrett had a metronome and a GPS gadget on his arm, so we kept at a very consistent pace the entire time. Our run started out with some overcast skies, but by the 3rd mile, it was very sunny and hot. I started feeling a little fatigued by the 4th mile, so we stopped and walked the rest of the way at a good pace. I'll be doing this every Saturday, as time permits, since it felt great and I actually wasn't too sore the following day. I haven't run over 2 or 3 miles since about November, so it's been a while. I'll be running next week throughout the week and my goal is to run the entire 5 miles next Saturday without giving up that 10-minute/mile pace.

Super Hot!

Monday (30 minutes yoga)
I'm loving the yoga sessions I'm doing. It's getting me back into my flexibility and the breathing techniques are helping with my singing, as is the running. I had opera rehearsal this evening and every time I'm at a voice lesson or any other rehearsal, I truly feel like I just did a bunch of crunches. Singing is a great exercise for your core!

Tuesday (50 minutes walking)
Went walking with Marli and Coco. It was 8:30am and it was soooo hot! I like warm weather, but not HOT weather when you just can't seem to keep cool. But, it was nice to go on a walk. I have a dance class this evening and then my cake class. I'll be doing my yoga tomorrow.

Wednesday (3o minutes running/20 minutes walking/30 minutes yoga)
I did quite a bit today. It felt great!

Thursday (50 minutes walking)
Just did a nice walk around Granite today.

Saturday (60 minutes yoga)
Wow! This felt great! There really is a great relationship between singing and yoga breathing and stretches. I was pretty sore on Sunday though! My arms got a good workout doing this hour of yoga.

Here we go again!

Monday
No run. Too busy.

Tuesday (50 minutes walking)
Went walking with Coco and Marli around Granite again. Felt good and it's always good to just walk. I'm trying to eat better, too. I need to tone up and get my body healthier on the insides, too. I'm going to cut back on sweets and really strive to get a more balanced diet. Being pregnant with Marli actually helped me make it a habit of having well-balanced meals and eating in the proper proportions, so I don't think it'll be too difficult. It's just the sweets!

Wednesday (90 minutes walking)
I went to visit some customers and my mom at the airport authority today and my mom and I took Marli on a walk around the bay. Beautiful! I discovered a namaste yoga program that comes on the FitTV channel. I loved it! It's only a half hour, but it's great for stretching out and working on my core. I'll keep that up!

Thursday (30 minutes running)
I ran around Granite for about a 3 mile run and then walked the rest of the way with Coco, so it took about an hour, but half was running. Felt good and then came back home and did my yoga to stretch out.

Friday (yoga)
I only had time this morning for a quick yoga session, but it was pretty challenging as there are balancing poses where your body is balanced on your elbows. Interesting and I actually was able to balance for a few seconds in crane pose! I'm sore today on my sides, but it's a good sore. :o)

Starting Over!

So, I've slacked for the past couple of weeks, but I did manage to get a couple of runs and walks in, so it hasn't been completely bad. This week, though has changed!


Monday (35 minutes)
I ran the figure 8 around Granite for the first time in a while. It felt sooo good. Unfortunately, I was sore on Tuesday....but, good sore! Felt very refreshing to get out there and run in the sunshine. The weather is PERFECT for running, so I'd better do it now!

Tuesday
Went walking, since I don't want to overdo it. I was sore from Monday, so I did a 50 minute fast-paced walk with Marli and Coco.

Wednesday (20 minutes)
I ran the short loop around Granite. Marli and Coco were walking behind me and did the same distance, just walking. I'm doing it this week! I'm going to make sure that I keep this up from now on....bathing suit season is around the corner! My goal is to lose 5 pounds. I don't think I necessarily NEED to lose this, but I think I would feel better if I did and I would feel healthier. That would put me just below my pre-pregnancy weight. :o)

Thursday (30 minutes)
I ran the figure 8 around Granite again today sans Marli and Coco. It felt great and the weather was beautiful! I love California! Low humidity and warm weather, sunny skies. Perfect! Feeling great about this week. My back hurts, though, but it's more from muscles and just tension. Ibis told me to go get a professional massage if I wanted to. Aw!

Friday (50 minutes)
Did a walk today with Coco and Marli. I'm so proud of myself that I was able to get out and exercise every day this week. Next week, too!

Week 28

Monday (30 min. walking)
Yay me! I went walking today with Marli. Just a quick 30 minute walk, but it felt good to get out there in the sunshine and off my patootie! Hope to run tomorrow. Ibis is finally going to the dentist, so I'll be out with Marli tomorrow as I don't have to be at the bakery and my only dance class isn't until 4:15 in the afternoon. Yay for good sleep and exercise!

No run. Grrrrr......

Wednesday
I am proud of myself! I got up at 7am this morning and went running for 20 minutes, worked at the bakery and taught two dance classes. Woo hoo! Also, Ibis got his job back at La Jolla Electric, so he's up earlier, which gives me the motivation to get up earlier too, instead of snuggling up and sleeping until 9. :o) Will be running tomorrow, too.

Week 27

Well, last week got away from me.....I started working at the bakery starting at 9am, so to be up, showered and made up and hair done to go to the bakery, I just don't have the energy to get up and run. I know that by running, I'll have more energy, but having Ibis home sleeping in doesn't help much! I'm still dancing daily at my dance classes, but that doesn't give me near the workout that a good run does. I'm figuring out my bakery schedule tomorrow with the boss, so I can actually get a good schedule for running down. Even though I didn't run today (Tuesday) I did do some leg exercises and pushups this evening while watching the Biggest Loser. That show always makes me want to stretch and do something while I'm watching! Tomorrow, I'll probably run in the evening since it's lighter out later now. :o)

Week 26

To start off, I had a wonderful moment of gracefulness this past Saturday. We were all at the Bueno's getting ready to go to Tristan's t-ball game. Ibis was waiting in the street in the truck with Marli and I helped Annya strap Mia into the carseat. After that, I was running down the driveway to the truck and the next thing I knew, I was flying through the air and landed THUD! on the ground and slid into the street on my hands. I stayed on the ground, contemplating the embarrassment factor and then decided to see if I was actually hurt. My left hand is all scratch up and was bleeding. That's the only visible token from my fall. On the inside, since I landed on my chest and hip, I'm bruised and very, very sore from the fall. I couldn't even laugh much since it hurt too much! Sooo....due to my display of grace, I am very sore and so far, have not run this week. UGH! Hopefully, my poor body will be up to it later this week. :o/

Week 25

Monday (30 minutes)
Went running around Granite with Ibis, Marli, and Coco. It felt great. I've been sick with a cold, so I felt a little fatigued this morning, but overall, it really did feel great to get back out there in the sunshine and run!

Tuesday (30 minutes)
FREE PANCAKES AT IHOP! So, I'll be running and then off to eat! Yummy! Just got back from IHOP. Very good and tasty. My run this morning was with Ibis. Coco wasn't feeling great, so he and I just did the figure 8 around Granite (about 2.8 miles). He has such long legs that it's hard for him to go my pace and really hard for me to go his pace. So, he stayed a bit ahead of me and waited on the corners until I caught up. I held steady though and we ran about a 10 minute mile. Not too bad considering I haven't been running consistently. But, this week is a different story!

Went running around Granite again. Feeling better each day!

No running, but danced 4 dance classes, so I got a bit of a workout.

Again....didn't run....it rained.

Thursday
I had my 4 dance classes, then I had a showcase in the evening for my school that finished up this week. So, really had no time to run.

Friday (45 minutes brisk walking)
I did get to walk today with Coco and Marli! Yay! Also, I'll be walking tomorrow at Balboa Park, so I'll get a good workout in then, too.

Week 23

Monday (25)
Ran in the early evening and it was great! I just ran down Anza and then left on Chase up the hill and then back. It was a short, but good run. Ibis is home now everyday since he was laid off AGAIN! Oy. Oh, well....things will be better soon!

Tuesday
No run....too busy with dance. I get a good work out with that anyway.

Wednesday (30)
Went running this morning around Granite. There were kids in P.E. walking around Granite and I passed them 3 times. The teacher was happy to see me running and showing the kids that walking is nuttin' compared to running. The kids were like, "Sheesh! She's still running???" It was pretty funny. I ran for 30 minutes and I'm slowly building up my base. By the end of the month I need to be running 60 minutes so that I can do well at the 10K on March 14th. We'll see!

Wednesday (30)
Yes!!! Went running around Granite for about 30 minutes. Man, that felt good! I'm feelin' it though in my legs. I haven't done that for a while. Need to stretch out and get ready for another run tomorrow morning. I will be running a 10K in Mission Bay with some friends from San Diego Opera in March, so I need to get a little serious again! I was going strong for a while there, but I need to get back in the swing of things and not let my busy schedule stand in the way. Here's to running more!

Thursday (30)
Well, I didn't run, but I did walk for about 40 minutes. A good, fast-paced walk around the Bueno's home. Definitely running tomorrow. I don't feel too bad about missing running on Tuesdays and Thursdays since I teach 4 dance classes and I'm dancing right alongside the kids!

Friday (30)
Rain, rain, go away...... Yep, raining all day. Boo!!!! No running for me. It was chilly, too!

Week 20

Tuesday & Wednesday
Okay, so I have been assigned 12 dance classes a week for EduDance. Crazy! It just so happens that on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have 4 classes each. Oy. Sooooo.......my energy is pretty exhausted after that! I have 1 class on Mondays, 4 on Tuesday, 2 on Wednesday, 4 on Thursday, and 1 on Friday. Needless to say, I usually get pretty tired and just want to flop out on the couch after Marli is in bed.

BUT, I did do a power walk on Tuesday and Wednesday and I am planning on running M, W and F and just walking on T and R. That will give me the exercise I need without burning me out! Anyway, it feels good to walk and stretch, so no harm in that!

Thursday
I walked around the Bueno's today. I really need to get back running. For the short few months that I was diligently running daily, I look back at those pics and I am liking the way I look. Not so much now. Soooo.....off to run next week!

Week 19

Monday (20)
Ran around the block near the Bueno's. About 20 minutes. It felt good, but I'm needing to rebuild my stamina, so that's what I'll be doing this week.

Tuesday (20)
Did the same run around the block at the Bueno's. It felt much better than yesterday! So, I'm going to go a little farther and longer tomorrow, but not overdo it. I'm hoping to do another race in February. Good news!!! Well, Ibis lost his job this past Friday, but he was hired on by another company that does the same stuff on Monday, so he started his new job today! I'm so happy and I feel so blessed that we didn't have to deal with unemployment for too long.

Wednesday (30)
Well, I didn't get to run longer than I have been running this week. I just did my 20 minutes and then had to head home. I had a lot going on today, so I couldn't fit it anymore than that, but at least I was out and running! It felt good and I'll be able to run longer next week, definitely. Coco, Geno, Tristan, Mia and Marli are going to Disneyland tomorrow for Tristan's birthday. I sooooo wish I could go, but I have 4 dance classes and my MK meeting tomorrow night, so I can't really afford to get a sub for all for classes! If it was just one, I'd definitely do it, but not 4! Oh, well, I'll take Marli on my birthday, since I get in for free and she's free because she's under 2. We'll have fun!

Week 18

On Monday, I went walking the long walk around Granite. I've had to just walk lately, but it was great going to the gym last week to run on the treadmill and be on the eliptical. I also went walking on Tuesday. Unfortunately, no walk on Wednesday.....just didn't happen. I will be walking/running tomorrow morning and then it's off to LA for a Mary Kay Jamboree weekend. Nickey will be coming with me and we'll be back on Saturday evening at some point. I'm trying to eat better.......but gosh darnit! I just love cake. :o)

Week 17

I went to the gym this morning with my mom and Marli. Marli got to play at the Kid's Club for the time I was working out. She had fun! I did the eliptical for 35 minutes and then ran on the treadmill for 25 minutes. Good workout and it felt great to get back into the swing of things. I'll be going to the gym again tomorrow evening with my mom, so I'll probably work on some weight training and abs in addition to cardio. I did do a little ab work today, too.

I went up to Salt Lake City on Tuesday and then drove back on Wednesday. It was for my mission reunion and it was sooo good to see everyone! Unfortunately, not everyone could make it, but I'm glad I went. It had been a while. :o) I'll post pics soon.

I did end up going to the gym on Saturday. I did the eliptical for 20 minutes and then ran on the treadmill for 15. I also did the 24 minute workout rotation, which works all your arm and leg muscles. Felt great! I'll be running tomorrow, hopefully. I have to sing at a funeral in the morning, so I hope that I'll get a chance at some point. I have lots to do!
